Where play and creative expression
are encouraged on a daily basis
We will be full with 22 students a day, four teachers, and our speech therapist.
Kelly S. Watson- (Director and Lead Teacher)
Ms. Kelly has been working with children since 2003 and found her expertise in Early Childhood Education after working in a kindergarten class in a summer school program. She holds a bachelor's in Early Childhood Multicultural Education, and a master's in Language Literacy and Sociocultural Studies. Kelly has six years experience at Albuquerque's well known and established preschool school, A Child's Garden, where she truly found her passion in teaching young children.
Andrea Gonzales- (Lead Teacher)
Ms. Andrea loves children and has worked with them in various capacities. For two years, she worked with students with disabilities as an educational assistant in middle school classrooms. This, along with her experience as assistant stage manager for several Albuquerque Little Theater & Play Conservatory productions—one of which was 101 Dalmatians, which had a cast of 101 children—has adequately prepared her for the role of teacher at Miss Kelly’s Academy. This is her second year with MKA.
Martha Sotelo - (Assistant & Spanish Teacher)
Miss Martha has been working with preschool and kindergarten-aged children for seven years. Prior to working at Miss Kelly's Academy, she worked with students with special needs and she managed her own business. Now that she is with us, she teaches Spanish to the children--she is excellent at finding a way to work in Spanish lessons into everything they do.
Tracy Watson - (Speech Therapist and Substitute)
Ms. Tracy is a licensed and certified speech/language pathologist and has been working with children with speech and language needs in both public and private schools for over 30 years. During those years, she worked with preschool children individually as well as in groups. At Miss Kelly's Academy, Ms. Tracy will be offering whole group language stimulation activities and games on a weekly basis to enhance every child's overall speech and language development. If there are concerns with your child's speech or language skills, individual screening can be arranged.
Vicki Murray - (Substitute)
Ms. Vicki has been working with children since 2002 and has her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. She worked for Head Start in Colorado for six years, and then worked at A Child's Garden preschool in Albuquerque for eight years. Ms. Vicki loves doing science experiments with the children, as well as messy art projects. She feels that if you really love your job, you never feel like you're working a day in your life!
Lelse Martinez - (Social worker)
Ms. Lesle is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and has been working with infants, toddlers, adolescents, and families for over 7 years in the Albuquerque area. Lesle has acted as a Developmental Specialist providing parenting support, early childhood development, prenatal support, and family-based services. She has worked both in client's homes and in the community setting. Currently, Lesle is working as a therapist, focusing on individual and family therapy.
